Helen Mae Ables, 90, of Smyrna, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013. Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 29, 11am at New Liberty Baptist Church in Acworth with Revs. Nathan Smith, Bobby McFarland, and Steve Price officiating. Burial will follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta. A native of Andrews, NC Mrs. Ables was a longtime member of the Baptist faith. Retiring in 1985 from the Cobb County Board of Education as a Bus Driver, Helen enjoyed taking care of the children she transported and did not take her responsibility lightly. After retirement, her pleasures included her children Randall, Alan, and Vicky, and their children. Mrs. Ables was preceded in death by her husband Grover and son Alan. Those who survive Helen are son Randall and wife June Ables of Douglasville, daughter Vicky and husband Darrell Bearden of Marietta, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family is receiving friends at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw on Tuesday, August 27, from 7-9pm and Wednesday, August 28, from 2-4pm and 6-9pm.
