Alan was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on December 7, 1940, the only son of Jack and Hazel Corrigan. His family relocated to Hialeah, Florida, when he was 10, where he attended middle and high school and later went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Miami.
Alan spent most of his professional life selling and admiring cars. In addition to his great fondness of automobiles, Alan loved the beach, animals (particularly dogs), an ice-cold beer, and of course his family. He greatly enjoyed traveling during his retirement, especially a 2012 trip to Japan.
Alan was known to friends and acquaintances as always friendly, energetic, empathetic and very passionate about sponsoring local youth. He was active in his community, serving as first vice chair of the Democratic Party of Cherokee County, and past president of the Kennesaw-Acworth Optimist Club. Everyone whose lives he touched will dearly remember Alan.
Alan is survived by his wife, Peggy Corrigan, of Acworth; his daughter Diana Corrigan and her husband, Richard Bakewell, of Manila, Philippines, beginning in July; his daughter Maura Corrigan of Brooklyn, New York; his son, Sean Corrigan, of Brooklyn, New York; and two grandchildren, Aidan and Adeline Bakewell.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, June 5, at the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. Reverend Camille Hegg will officiate. Family will receive friends from 2 pm until the start of the service, and a toast will take place thereafter.
