I can still he his voice at the family reunion in Cleveland, asking "Find out witch granny made this dressing right here" in a voice so deep and load you could have heard it over his racecar running... He will be missed. Glad he got to come to the last reunion at Joyce's home this last Christmas.

I am certain that a host of angels welcomed Luther Carter to heaven with a joyful celebration. He was a man who had many lifelong friends, a lifetime of love and laughter, and a heart that motivated him to do more good in his final year of life than most people spend a lifetime trying to do. He will be deeply missed. I will always be grateful to Luther and his family for the love, support, and valuable assistance they have provided my family over the years, especially over the last year. Luther, thank you. To his family, my sincere condolences.

As you stood by me in times of illness giving me strength all the while you were silently suffering too is just one characteristic of the man you will always be. Luther was my Daddy's friend.  When Daddy, Max Simpson, had heart surgery, his sister, Clara Mae, died the same day he came home from the hospital.  Luther called to ask if Daddy was going to attend her funeral.   When he heard he was unable to attend, his response was, "I'm on my way" and he hung up the phone.  He was at the door in a matter of minutes and spent the day with Mama & Daddy while our family attended the funeral.  His generosity and kindness has never been forgotten.  RIP Luther.

Luther was a good friend of mine. He was a friend who was always the same every time you saw him. I will miss knowing that I could talk to him and reminisce of the good old days in racing.He is in a much better place where there is no sickness or death.My prayers go out to the family.

What amazing memories I have....the smell of red clay and exhaust, the comfort and warmth of Ms. Geraldine's kitchen, how Mr. Luther's shirts smelled when he picked you up, and how very large his leathered hands were! My children have heard many stories from my childhood and though they may never meet on this earth, they know of the goodness of Luther and Geraldine Carter. I am praying continually that God himself will console you and bring to mind the most wonderful moments you shared with Luther. My heart leapt when I saw the photograghs. What a legacy!
