Jamye Leigh Sutter, 73, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 26, 1953, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, to James and Johanne Shank.
Jamye lived a life centered on faith, family, love, and service to others. She married her best friend and the love of her life, Bruce Sutter, and together they shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until Bruce's passing. Through every season of life, they built a home filled with laughter, support, and unwavering devotion.
Together, Jamye and Bruce raised three sons, and she embraced her role as a proud "boy mom" with endless enthusiasm. Throughout their childhoods, she was their biggest fan—never missing a baseball game, cheering from the stands, volunteering at their schools, and making sure they always knew they were loved. Jamye provided the constant that made their house a home. Her love and dedication created a foundation that carried her family wherever life led them.
Jamye was the heart of her family. Not only was she devoted to her immediate family, but she was also the glue that held together a large and loving extended family. Family meant everything to her. As the oldest of five children, she naturally stepped into the role of caregiver, confidante, and encourager. Her hospitality, kindness, and generosity touched everyone she met. She had a special gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures: reading a good book, watching movies, observing the birds in her yard, sending Instagram’s to friends and family, shopping on Amazon, and spending time with her faithful companion, Major. Above all else, she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness and pride.
Jamye is survived by her sons, Joshua Sutter, Chad Sutter, and Ben Sutter (Amanda); her brothers, Jim Shank, Jay Shank, and Jesse Shank; her sister, Joni Mitchell; her beloved grandchildren, Amanda Sutter, Graysen Sutter, Riley Sutter, Presley Sutter and Calen Sutter; her faithful companion, Major; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce Sutter; her parents, James and Johanne Shank; and her cherished grandson, Denver Sutter.
Visitation will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA 30152, US, on June 23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at the same location from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
Jamye's legacy is one of unconditional love, selfless devotion, and unwavering commitment to family. Her warmth, compassion, and joyful spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her love remains woven into their hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Jamye's honor to the Children's Haven of Cherokee County.
