Jane Skinner Martin of Acworth, GA died on Monday, February 29, 2016. Jane was born in Columbus, SC in 1924. She was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII. She served as a Flight Controller at the Atlanta Naval Air Station. After the Navy she became a Delta flight attendant where she met her beloved husband, Charles (Chuck) Martin, during a flight to Atlanta that he was on for an interview with Delta as a pilot. He flew for Delta the next 34 years and the two were together for 60 years. Jane retired from Delta and devoted her life to raising their three children; Charlie Martin, David Martin, and Susie Geiger (Bert). She spent most of her adult life in Miami, FL, while making trips to Hartwell, GA to their lake house. She enjoyed spending time at the lake house with family and beloved friends. Jane enjoyed volunteering with the Cancer Society, youth Sunday school, boating, tennis and spending time with friends. After her children were grown and moved away she spent her time as realtor in Miami, FL. Jane and Chuck moved to Acworth, GA to be closer to their children several years later. Jane’s greatest joy was being a “Grammy” to Samantha Beadle (Scott), Jed Martin, Jacob Martin, Jordan Geiger, Morgan Geiger, and Grace Carter. They will all miss her beautiful youthful spirit, friendship and unwavering love. She had a special place in her heart for daughter-in-law Lindy Martin and nieces Linda Turner, Sandra Rice and Mary Kelly. A celebration of her wonderful life will be held on her birthday March 12, 2016, which would have been her 92nd birthday. The celebration will take place at her daughter Susie’s home in Acworth, GA. Grammy and Pop are now dancing together with the Lord in Heaven. Jane will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
