Jeffrey John Mracek

Jeffrey John "Jeff" Mracek, 70, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away of natural causes on July 25, 2026. He was born on February 23, 1956, in Northfield, Minnesota, to John "Jack" and Adeline (Krenik) Mracek.

Jeff forged a career in the electric utility industry. He lived his life devoted to laughter, his kids, and always having a good time.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Adeline Mracek, and his granddaughter, Amelia "Millie" Claire Mracek.

He is survived by his sons, Nick (Claire) Mracek and Paul (Mandy) Mracek; his brother, Curt (Linda) Mracek; his sister, Lisa (Tony) Fallen; and his grandsons, Jack Mracek, Vance Mracek, and Zachary Mracek; and the mother of his children, Patricia Miller.

Jeff was proud of his 100% Czech heritage. He grew up in Owatonna, Minnesota, and graduated from St. John's University in Minnesota. He had a natural aptitude for math and physics, enjoyed figuring out how things worked, and had a knack for explaining complicated ideas in simple terms.

One of Jeff’s favorite stories was spending a season and a half as a sixth-string benchwarmer under legendary St. John’s football coach John Gagliardi. He fondly remembered his one chance to play slipping away, then turning in his pads to Coach the next day.

Jeff liked to joke that "I never worked a real job a day in my life." He drove a beer truck during college before spending more than 20 years on the road selling hydraulic tools to electric utilities. He later started his own business, Southern Utility Repair (SUR), repairing hydraulic and battery tools. He also invented three specialized tools: the “Splice-Slicer” that earned him a registered patent, a dolly that helped utility linemen move electrical transformers, and a ground rod driver.

Jeff was proudest of raising his two sons and building his own business. Outside of work, he enjoyed sitting in his hot tub with a beer and cigar, watching sports, playing golf, listening to talk radio, and enjoying all kinds of music. He was quick to tell a good story, even if the details changed from one telling to the next. As Jeff liked to say, "It's my lie, and I'll tell it any way I want to."

In keeping with Jeff's wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. Instead, his family will gather privately for one last party in his honor. He will be laid to rest at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mighty Millie Foundation (www.mightymillie.org) in honor of Amelia "Millie" Claire Mracek to support the fight against childhood cancer.
