A husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Mr. Highfield loved every member of his family, especially his wife, of 59 years, Martha. Gene and Martha had a beautiful connection with each other and even to the end, Gene would ask "where is she," when Martha would take just a moment to leave the room.
Mr. Highfield had owned and operated a service station - Acworth Amaco for 15 years. He also worked at both wholesale and retail auto sales including Tidwell Motors for 15 years and Hardy Ford before retiring.
He was a very outgoing person and was the kind of person who would never meet a stranger. He was very generous and loving and would give the shirt off of his back if it would help someone.
He was a member of Woodstock First Baptist Church, Acworth Masonic Lodge No. 176 F&AM, the American Legion, and had served as a Shriner.
