Jessie Gravitt Shoemaker was one of four children born to Grady and Irene Gravitt on July 17, 1937. In her youth, Jessie enjoyed playing basketball and visiting her grandparents’ home especially during Summer Holiday. She married her husband, Frank Shoemaker on September 10th, 1955 and they were quite inseparable until he passed in 2009. Together The Shoemaker's enjoyed traveling around the southeastern United States together in their camper/ motorhome. Both Mr. and Mrs. Shoemaker were hard workers.
Jessie was known to enjoy a good session of storytelling in her youth but as she aged she became better known for her directness; it was these qualities along with being a disciplinarian that have become a part of her legacy. Mrs. Shoemaker is predeceased by her parents: Grady and Hattie Irene Gravitt, her brother: Edward Gravitt. Mrs. Shoemaker is survived by her two children Janet Shoemaker and Jeffrey Shoemaker (Kim), her sister's Sarah Biddy, Martha Gravitt-Boss, three grandchildren: Carley Shoemaker, Nick Foster and Jessica Massengale; and two great-grandchildren Chloe and Olivia.
