

Jim was retired from IBM where he worked for 30 years as a Software Engineer. His hobbies included model trains along with an appreciation for the Mazda Miata’s, Jim was a member of Peachtree Miata Club since 1990. A man of faith, Jim was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Acworth.
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Terry Rakowitz; his daughter Jeanne O'Halleran (Chris); his son David Rakowitz; his son Dan Rakowitz (Niki); and his granddaughter Danyel Bowers (Spencer); his grandson Joseph O'Halleran and his great granddaughter Hadley Bowers; his brothers Ray Rakowitz (Linda), and Mike Rakowitz (Amy).
A visitation for Jim will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. A mass of Christian burial will occur Thursday, June 2, 2022, 11:00 am at St, Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 6301 Cedarcrest Rd, Acworth, GA 30101. Jim served our country honorably in the US Army and will be laid to rest in the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30114. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the Powers Promise, powerspromise.org or to the National Kidney Foundation, kidney.org.
