Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bernice Wildharber.
Jim and Lolly’s love story began in June of 1959 when they met at the swimming pool in Taft, California. They became engaged while students at the University of California, Long Beach. They were married in September 1962, while still seniors, and together built a life full of adventure and joy. Jim graduated with a BS in Geology and earned an MS in Marine Geology from the University of Southern California. He went on to work as a geologist for Mobil Oil, dedicating his career to the company until his retirement in 1995. Over the years, Jim worked in various locations, including Alaska, Colorado, Norway, New York, Germany, Texas, and Indonesia, always taking pride in his work and his contributions.
A passionate aviator, Jim learned to fly at the age of 19. In 1983, he bought a 1955 Cessna 170, a plane he would treasure for 41 years. As an active member of the International Cessna Association, Jim served on the board, as vice president, president, and convention host. He cherished his flying adventures and the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts.
In 2010, Jim and Lolly moved to Kennesaw, Georgia, to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law. They immediately became active members of New Beginnings Methodist Church, where Jim served on numerous committees and was a welcoming presence as a greeter. Whether offering a smile, handshake, or hug, he made everyone feel valued. Jim also volunteered for the Walk to Emmaus, deeply committed to his faith and his role as a servant of God.
Above all, Jim was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who adored his grandchildren. Whether reading stories, playing games, or simply spending time together, he cherished every moment with his family. His final week on Earth was a perfect reflection of his spirit—spent in the Caribbean with his loved ones, snorkeling, walking on the beach, playing card games, laughing together, and watching his grandchildren enjoy the sand and surf.
Jim’s life was a beautiful testament to love, service, and faith in Jesus Christ. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
