Joan was born on June 23, 1938, in New York, NY, the oldest of two children to Irving Theise and Florence Mason. She had a younger brother James Theise.
Joan grew up in the New York City borough of the Bronx and at one time was a “hand-model” for Palmolive dish soap. She met her spouse, John Nicholas Mlincsek and the “love of her life” at the age of 15 and when betrothed in 1957, they embarked on a journey for 53 years. Joan was the consummate mother who flourished in that role raising her three sons; maintained the peace in a 900 square foot home and always packed the best school lunches.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and her husband John. She is survived by her sons John James Mlincsek (Jennifer), Richard John Mlincsek (Jennifer), Kenneth John Mlincsek (Linda), grandchildren Christopher Brooks Mlincsek (Allyson), Brendan John Mlincsek (Kylie), Kristina Joan Mlincsek (Sidney MaRay), Leanne Victoria Mlincsek, Olivia Mae Mlincsek and great granddaughter Layla Jean Mlincsek.
Joan will be interred at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, NY along with her husband John. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross, an organization that Joan felt strongly about.
