John Richard “Jack” Dillon, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 15, at Northside Cherokee Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He spent his final hours surrounded by the love and presence of his family and closest friends.
Jack was born on December 14, 1957, in Norwood, Massachusetts, to Marrie Louise Mather and John Raymond Dillon. He spent his early childhood in Franklin, Massachusetts, before the family moved to Buzzards Bay, where he lived until 1998. That year, he relocated to Acworth, Georgia, where he eventually established his own plumbing business.
Jack loved his family and friends, his dogs, and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed
camping, returning “home” to Cape Cod to stay at his cottage, and hosting gatherings in his garage, where he welcomed anyone who wanted to share good food, cold beer, and football.
Jack was predeceased by his father, John Raymond Dillon; his mother, Marrie Louise (Mather) Biggs; and his sister, Dianne Fitch (Ken Fitch) of Cumberland, Rhode Island.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Martin) Dillon of Acworth, Georgia; Beverly Dillon (Ben Ellis) of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; his daughter, Shannon Dillon Ventresca (Tony Ventresca) of Acworth, Georgia; his twin sons, Johnny Dillon of Niagara Falls, New York, and Richard Dillon (Felicia Gates Dillon) of Acworth, Georgia; and his stepson, Jamie Harding of Mashpee, Massachusetts.
He fiercely loved his grandchildren: Christian Ventresca of Weymouth, Massachusetts; Dillon Ventresca, Ashton Ventresca, and Noelle Dillon of Acworth, Georgia, who will all miss “Grandpa” and his big laugh.
He is also survived by his niece, Keri Fitzpatrick Cotter (Matthew Cotter), and great niece, Avery Cotter, of Bridgewater, Massachusetts; his nephew, Kevin Fitzpatrick, great niece Jordan Fitzpatrick, and great nephew Travis Fitzpatrick of Attleboro, Massachusetts; and nephews Michael Shalginewicz of San Francisco, California, and Thomas Shalginewicz of Bridgewater, Massachusetts.
Jack will be cremated at Winkenhofer-Pine Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park, and
a Celebration of Life will be held in the coming months.
