She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy; her father, Max; her brothers, Elmer and Chuck; and her sisters, Anne and Geri. Joyce Pipin was a remarkable woman whose life was centered around love, family, faith, and joy. Born in 1938 in Chicago to Max and Dorothy Beckmann, Joyce was a proud Chicagoan who grew up on the city’s north side. Over the years, she also called Western Springs and Naperville home before eventually retiring to London, Tennessee, just outside of Knoxville, where she enjoyed the beauty and peace of lake life.
Above all else, Joyce’s greatest love was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who treasured every moment spent with those she loved. Whether it was playing cards, sharing meals around the table, or simply talking on the phone, Joyce found her greatest happiness in being surrounded by family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were truly the center of her world.
Only second to her love of family was her love for fashion, shopping, and finding a great bargain. Nothing brought her more joy than a successful shopping trip, especially if it involved her favorite stops like TJ Maxx or Von Maur.
Joyce also had a love for life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid tennis player in her younger years and later enjoyed relaxing with her favorite Hallmark Channel movies. One film she especially loved was The Sound of Music, which she could watch time and time again.
Joyce shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Bruce, who passed away in 2016. He was her true partner in life, and she missed him dearly after his passing. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. Their retirement years in Tennessee brought countless happy moments spent fishing, boating, exploring the area, and enjoying family adventures, including visits to Dollywood.
Those who knew Joyce will remember her warmth, strength, sense of humor, and deep love for the people around her. She had a special joy for dancing, and her family fondly remembers Joyce and Bruce sharing the dance floor together—always a beautiful picture of love, partnership, and happiness.
Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, family, and cherished memories that will live on in all who knew her.
Rest in peace, Joyce. You were deeply loved and will be greatly missed
