Rev. JP Underwood

Rev. JP Underwood, age 81 of Acworth passed on December 3, 2013. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw. The committal service will follow the funeral at Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Marietta. He served his country honorably in the US. Army. JP was born in Ranger, GA., to the late Bert and the late Mossie Underwood. He was a founding member of Rock Baptist Church. He loved music, being song leader and an Elder for many churches. JP was a devoted Christian, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, friend, and he will be missed by all that knew him.

Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Underwood; brothers, Charlie Underwood, Stewart Underwood; sister, Clemmie Pankey. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Underwood; son, Peyton (Lisa) Underwood; daughters, Deborah (Sammy) Avins, Betty (Charles) Chambers; brother, Tony Underwood; sister, Myrtle Brock; grandchildren, Chuck Chambers, James Chambers, Kenny Lambert, Chris Underwood, Allison Helms, Nathan Chambers, Matthew Underwood, Jacob Underwood; 6 great grandchildren; in-laws, Charles and Anne Spruill; step-sons, Ben Hampton, Joe Hampton, Randy Engerisch; step-daughters, Carla Harper, Eve Trosclair, Kaylon Banks, Andrea Murphee and 10 step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 6, 2013 from 4pm until 9pm, and Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 4pm until 9pm at the funeral home.
