Karen Sue (Jeffers-Werk) Weinzetl, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 13th after a long courageous fight with COPD. As the youngest of three children, Karen was born to the late Harold E. Jeffers and Nellie M. Werk on September 6, 1956 in Toledo, Ohio.
Karen was self-employed for many years in home management and maintenance. Not only would Karen bring organization to the family she supported, she also dedicated her friendship, loyalty, and love. In turn, Karen’s clients included her as family and treasured her beyond measure.
In addition to being self-employed, Karen displayed many talents through her hobbies and interests including cross-stitching and gardening. Among her many interests, Karen found the most joy in gardening. Like Karen’s own beauty, Karen treated her yard as a canvas vibrantly filled with lavender, daisies, lilies, azaleas, yarrow and so many other favorites. The only things that could keep Karen from gardening were inclement weather or a random snake.
When the weather didn’t cooperate, Karen would be found inside rearranging and redecorating her home. Karen’s eye for beauty within her gardens also shined through her amazing sense of home decor. From unique antique marble collections to a grand piece of furniture, Karen would find the perfect spot and display it beautifully. Karen even adorned a wall with framed antique black and white photos that she referred to as “instant relatives”.
Watching Karen decorate at Christmas time was magical, as Christmas was her favorite holiday. Karen would joyfully and meticulously transform each room to a warm atmosphere with Santa, nutcracker, and snowman collections. Karen’s Santa collections even included a self-designed cross-stitch that she worked on for weeks.
Karen is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer Sue O’Laughlin (Richard), her grandchildren, Ashley Sue Catenacci (Cody), Brendon Raymond Jay (Aspen Steele), Christa Elizabeth, and Jocelyn Mae O’Laughlin, and great grandchildren, Sawyer James, Wyatt Alexander, and Lucas Dean Catenacci. Karen is also survived by her loving partner, Michael Edgeworth, along with many loving friends and family members, including honorary nephew, Benjamin Daniel Kendrick. Karen is predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Bruce Jay Weinzetl, her mother and father, Nellie Mae and James E. Werk, her brother, Danny E. Jeffers, and her sister, Sharon K. Strickland.
A visitation will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, located at 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA, 30152, on January 21, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
