Kathy, was a beautiful, warm, smiling, red-head who was a devout Catholic, loyal wife, loving mother and amazing grandmother. She never met a stranger and made everyone in her presence feel special. She enjoyed baking, going to church, cruise vacations, shopping, and sports (especially the Detroit Red Wings and Michigan State Spartans). She had great pride in her French Canadian heritage, her ability to remember everyone’s birthday and of course, her husband, four children and eleven grandchildren.
Kathy was married to her soulmate, Tom Hein, for 50 years who she met just before he was drafted into the army. Kathy and Tom stayed in touch via letters and short visits. After two years, they realized they were perfect for each other so they married and started a family together.
It gives us all comfort that Kathy was able to say goodbye to all of her children and grandchildren and that she died holding the hand of the man she loved. We are planning a funeral for June 23 at 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milford, Michigan followed by a gathering nearby to celebrate her life (details to follow soon).
Kathleen is preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Seguin; father, William Seguin; brothers, Rick and Gene; and sister, Mary. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Hein; sons, Steven (and wife Melissa) Hein, Mark (and wife Linda) Hein; daughters, Julie (and husband Mitch) Kraemer, Laura (and husband Dave) Griffin; sister, JoAnn; and grandchildren, Brenden, Conner, Kiersten, Natalie, Thomas, David, Kaylee, Noah, Nicholas, Libby, and Charlie.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society.
