Ken and Jean (Hunter) Fox fell in love on a swing in 7th grade. It was not until Ken hitchhiked from Texas where he was stationed, to Michigan to check on Jean after she was in an accident, they decided they were meant to be. The running joke is that the Hunter was scooped by the Fox. They married in 1965 and were inseparable. The two of them moved around the Midwest until settling in Georgia in 1978. Together, Ken and Jean raised two beautiful children Brian and Tamara. The bond Ken and Jean created over their 57 plus years of marriage, is one to be admired by all.
Ken graduated from Saginaw High School in Saginaw Michigan, he served in the Air Force and was stationed in Bermuda, where Brian was born. For most of his life, Ken worked in sales for several companies including Eaton Manufacturing, Testors Toy Company, UNEX and Plantronics where he retired in 2013. Sales was a perfect job for Ken as he never met a stranger, you were drawn to his easy-going nature and calming presence, becoming friends in an instant. Like everything he did, Ken excelled at his job. While at Plantronics, he received the Courtney Graham Award, given to the top salesperson worldwide and one of his most cherished moments was having the opportunity to ring the bell on the New York Stock Exchange.
The kind and giving person that Ken was, he loved helping others, and volunteering was incredibly important to him. He and Jean both were volunteers at Kennestone Hospital helping patients and families navigate through the system. Golf was a passion of Ken’s. He often played with Brian and his friends from Serenade and worked the PGA Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Course for many years. One of Ken’s annual traditions was boating on Lake Allatoona and commanding the wheel so that his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids could enjoy a day of jumping off the boat and sliding down into the water.
An avid reader of mystery and spy novels, he was always trading books, or bootlegging them from someone he knew. Ken, Brian, and friends spent many days hunting and celebrating with each other after their days in the woods. If you could not find Ken reading, golfing, or hunting you could find him fixing, building, or tearing something apart to rebuild – just because. If you needed a barn door made for your laundry room, tile placed for your backsplash, lacrosse lamps made for your auction, or just needed a picture hung, Ken would be there, always.
Ken loved his family more than life and leaves behind his wife Jean, son Brian Fox, of Kennesaw, Georgia and daughter Tamara Fox Dillon of St. Charles, Illinois: daughter in law Erica Kenney Fox and son in law Scott Dillon, grandchildren – Kristina Fox Tucker, Zach Tucker, Travis Fox, Tara Janos Fox, Pierce Fox, McKenzie Fox, Jed Fox, Joselyn Dillon, Genevieve Dillon, Jackson Dillon, Aidan Collins, Emma Collins, Sean Collins, great-grandchildren-Nathan Tucker, Rob Tucker, and Brian Fox.
