Laurie was born on June 27, 1953, in Rockville Center, NY, to the late John and Ruth Ramo. When she was 14, Laurie and her family moved to Deland, FL where she attended Deland High School. She then attended a friend's wedding, where she was a bride's maid and escorted by Roger McNeeley in the wedding. A romance blossomed and then a year later Roger convinced her to become his wife on September 1, 1973. They remained sweethearts for 47 years until her passing. Laurie enjoyed working as a travel agent for 14 years plus and took great pleasure in helping her clients decide on destinations. Her success in her field earned her several trips abroad. In 1978, Roger and Laurie welcomed their first daughter, Kimberly into the world. Their second daughter, Kristen soon followed. Laurie adored being a mother, but her heart was filled with so much love that she continued to welcome new members into the family, ones of a furrier nature. In fact, Laurie brought home so many pets, that Roger threatened to divorce her and move out if she did not stop. Of course, the animals kept coming anyway, and Roger, despite his threats, just made room and ended up loving them all. Although Laurie was a loyal and devoted wife, her friends and family knew all about the other man in her life --- Paul McCartney. Spending time at the McNeeleys for any occasion meant a night filled with music and dancing to The Beatles. It also meant that you would be treated like family, whether they were related to her or not.
Laurie is survived by her husband, Roger McNeeley; daughter Kimberly Redmond and her husband John of Woodstock, GA; Brother John Ramo of Carbondale, CO; cousin Joanie Ramo of Roswell, GA and two grandchildren, Christian Tippens and Brooke Redmond of Woodstock, GA and several sister- in- laws and brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kristen McNeeley, Brother Peter Ramo, and parents John and Ruth Ramo.
