Mae Hughes

Mae Hughes, 94, widow of Vernal Hughes of Griggs St. in Acworth, died April 22, 2016 in Kennesaw, GA. Funeral service is Thursday, 1pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with Pastor Larry Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband Vernal, children – John Vernal Hughes & Wanda Hughes, parents – Efton & Ora Little, and her siblings – Louin Little & Lovell Martin.

Mae lived in the Acworth/Kennesaw area for many years and was a spiritual pillar for many among her family & friends as well as a beloved mother figure. She was member of Prayer & Praise Christian Fellowship in Woodstock where most people knew her as Aunt Mae or Sister Mae. Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker who provided a loving home for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved each family member dearly. Her greatest passion though was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her grandchildren – Kimberly and husband Greg Holland, John Barrett “Barry” Coleman, great grandchildren – Justin Newberry, Amber Newberry Izzo, great great granddaughter – Olivia Newberry. There are also nieces and nephews surviving.

Family will receive friends on Thursday beginning at 10:30am.
