December 13, 1926 – December 14, 2018
Margot Frances Caroline Kremkau Sellmann was the only child of German immigrants Otto and Bertha Kremkau. She was born in 1926 and raised in Dover, NJ. Margot attended the New Jersey State Teachers College at Trenton and became an elementary school teacher. She taught for many years in the Randolph Township, NJ School District, lastly at Fernbrook Elementary.
On June 23, 1951, Margot married Gilbert Charles Sellmann of Morristown, NJ. They moved into the red brick multi-level home Gil and his brothers had built for them in Randolph, NJ. Margot and Gil had two children, Scott Alan and Kim Ellen. The Sellmanns moved to Acworth, GA in 1978.
A lifelong Lutheran Christian, Margot loved and was loved by Jesus. She was a devoted wife to Gil for 63 years before she was widowed in 2014. A supportive mother to her son Scott and his wife Debbie Sellmann (Acworth, GA), and her daughter Kim and her husband Steve Savage (Tempe, AZ), Margot was also a caring grandmother to Andy and Becca Sellmann, and thoroughly enjoyed visits with great-grandchildren Keller, Elijah, and Seattle.
Margot loved her family and her church community at Living Hope Church, Kennesaw, GA. She enjoyed planning road trips to natural wonders and historic sites, watching Braves baseball, trees, birds, books, and jigsaw puzzles. She especially enjoyed eating Gil’s cooking and baking, chocolate of any kind (but especially chocolate-covered cherries), afternoon naps, and hugs. Her beloved children never doubted that they could return home, and when they left after a visit, she always waved with both hands from the porch.
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” (I Corinthians 2:9).
