Marguerite Rooney, 87, entered eternal life on December 15, 2020 and is currently exploring the universe in search of answers to her many unanswered questions. Marguerite aka “Marge” or “Margie” was born on November 3, 1933 in the Bronx, NY and embraced her experience growing up and being a “Bronx Gal.” She is survived by her two brothers; Howard Mildner and Fredrick Mildner. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Howard Emil and Laura Christman Mildner, late husband, Lawrence Edward Rooney and her beloved daughter, Laura Jean Tomer.
She is survived by her daughter, Doreen Rooney, and her three children; two sons, C. Lawrence Buchholz and Patrick G. Buchholz and wife Emily, and daughter Dana L. Buchholz. Her daughter, Laura Jean Tomer’s (who will be the first to meet her at the Pearly Gates) four children; two sons, Dion Glenn Tomer and Michael “Casey” Cline and wife Cheryl, and daughters; Marguerite “Maggie” May Cline and Alexandria “Alex” Elaine Bishop. Her sons; Lawrence “Larry” John Rooney, and wife Joann, stepson Joseph Lore and daughter Briana Rooney, and John Rooney and wife Jamie and his four children; three daughters, Jessica Elizabeth Bruce and wife Lauryn, Aryn Michelle Rooney and husband Nathan Mercer, Kathryn Ann Rooney and husband Kevin Adams, and son John “Johnnie” Lawrence Rooney and wife Amanda. Marguerite also has nine great grandchildren; Stephan Tyler Tomer, Ashley Renae Tomer, Robert Zachary “Zac” Cline-Oaks, step granddaughter, Meredith Hall, Lucas Michael Cline, Ethan Thomas Cline, Colin Lawrence Rooney, Ezra Dean Adams, Spencer James Adams and another precious one arriving in early March. She also provided a kind and loving home for 10 foster children as a young mother.
Marguerite was a very spiritual person from early on in life. She was a great supporter of her church, Unity North, in Marietta, GA and coordinated Conscious Living Circles (several prayer groups throughout the Atlanta area) for many, many years. She meditated, said her affirmations and read her devotional daily. She was a big fan of Deepak Chopra, Edgar Cayce, Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer and walked her spiritual path guided by the lessons provided by Abraham Hicks. As a young woman she grew weary of complaints and negativity and her mantra quickly became, “You create your own reality, if you don’t like it, change it.” This innate ability to see only the positive in people made her friends to everyone she encountered. She believed that love, forgiveness and gratefulness were the keys to living a joyous life. She was truly an angel that walked the earth.
She was proud of her many volunteer duties and cherished her hours spent with the folks of Common Ground. Common Ground was a church/synagogue funded support group for people battling the AIDS virus. She cooked a many a casserole in her personalized dish named “Marge’s God Job.”
She was a devoted and loving friend to so, so many. She remained close friends with her high school friends Barbara Gronberg, Delores Lanzetta, Marion Griffing, Robert Kriss and Eileen “Irish” Mulgrew, her tennis partners, neighbors and fellow “Unitics.”
If you ever met Marge, you would remember her, as her eyes were bluer than any sky or ocean and her smile and laughter were contagious.
Sending her off with the words of Simon & Garfunkel “…sail on Silver Girl, sail on by, your time has come to shine, all your dreams are on their way…”
