Marion "Mo" Odell Ferguson

Odell was a kind, funny and charming man. He was the definition of a southern gentlemen and always loved to put a smile on everyone’s face. He loved to be the center of attention, but would never have admitted it. Odell lived a simple life, and was a hard working man from a very young age. He was always proud of the fact that he was able to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired as a fork lift mechanic from Super Value Foods in Atlanta after over twenty-five years of dedicated service.

In 1961, he met the love of his life, Geneva “Jean” Godfrey and after three short months they were married. Together they were blessed with two sons William and Wendell and later three special grandchildren Andrea, Jessica and Zachery, which he lovingly refered to as, “them grandkids of mine!”. Odell and Jean shared more than fifty-eight years together, most of which was spent in their family home in Marietta, Georgia. Their later years were spent in Florida with son William and daughter in law Annette. He loved every opportunity to spend time with his brothers and sisters and their families. He whole heartedly enjoyed being a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He had a great love of family, and to him it meant much more than just being kin, because he considered his friends family as well.

Odell was a strong man who loved God and faced every challenge with a positive attitude. He had a wonderful outlook on life. He truly had a heart full of love to share and would do anything to help others.

A funeral service to honor Odell Ferguson will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at twelve o’clock at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, January 18, 2020 between six and nine in the evening. He will be laid to rest at Pineridge Memorial Park immediately following the service.
