

Mark J. Rittenour, son of Carol A. Landy and Paul M. Rittenour, Jr., was born on January 31, 1957 in Darby, PA. Mark departed from this world on January 9, 2025, after losing a valiant battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, courage, and unwavering faith. Mark’s life was a testament to strength and resilience, qualities he carried through every challenge he faced.
Throughout his 67 years of life, Mark touched countless hearts and souls. He married his best friend and soulmate, Melissa, sharing 27 years of deep love and companionship. His dedication extended beyond his family life; Mark spent 45 years at IBM as a Global Risk Manager and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge.
Mark's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He and Melissa worshipped at Marietta Community Church, and his profound connection with God guided his volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, and Samaritan's Purse, where he selflessly gave his time and talents to help others.
Beyond his professional and charitable endeavors, Mark had a remarkable talent for craftsmanship. Whether in the yard or by the poolside, he could mend anything and everything, embodying the spirit of a true handyman. His passion for music was boundless, often seen playing drums and guitar or writing his own songs. An avid Atlanta Braves fan, Mark found joy in sports and spent cherished moments with his beloved family, always bringing laughter with his infectious humor and infamous dad jokes.
Mark's warmth and charisma lit up every room he entered. His love for dancing and his cherished cat, Missy, were testaments to his zest for life and deep affection for those around him. Above all, he adored his family, cherishing every moment spent with them.
Mark is survived by his loving wife Melissa Rittenour; children, Tanya Rivera (Hector), Ashley Tedder (Eric), Derek Rittenour (Amanda Williams), Matthew MacLeod (Marianna), and Emily Rittenour; siblings, Deborah Bertoldi (the late David Bertoldi), Kimberly Thomas, Andrew Rittenour, Kathy Dukeman (William), Paul Rittenour (Robyn), John Dodson, Jr. ( Melanie), Marion Clifford (Brian), and Adam Dodson; in addition to 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
In honoring Mark's memory, the family kindly requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org, to assist them in treating and defeating childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
Mark will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his boundless love, kindness, and humor. His legacy of faith, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in peace, dear Mark, knowing your spirit lives on in the hearts of those blessed to have been loved or known by you.
A visitation for family and friends to gather will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Marietta Community Church, 3121 Ernest W Barrett Pkwy NW, Marietta, GA 30064, followed by a service at 12:00 PM. Mark will be interred at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 2:30 PM
