My dear Aunt Lucy has been a wonderful example to me as a loving and self sacrificing daughter to her mother, my grandmother, and as an exceptionally devoted mother to her precious daughter, Cathy. Selfless, determined, committed, unfaltering, are just a few of the words that describe her. Absolutely no parent has been more attentive to the special needs of her child than Lucy. She became a single parent when her husband died when Cathy was only 10 years old. I asked her many years later how she coped losing her father and husband so close together and that I didn't recall seeing her grieve. She said she couldn't that she had to be strong for Cathy. Cathy was always at the forefront of her mind! Lucy gave Cathy a wonderful life full of activities, trips, traditions like going to Maggie Valley every year for Cathy's birthday and to the movies and out to eat every Saturday! We must pray for Cathy to be comforted as she deals with this tremendous loss of her dear mother and very best friend. Cathy is being well cared for and loved by Mark and Sally and their children.  I know this was a great comfort to Lucy.

Our sweet neighbor for 33 years.  Lou and Cathy were a blessing, we missed them so much when they moved away.  Our love to Cathy and the family and our love and prayers in this time of loss.

Lucille was a great example to me of staying active and taking care of yourself. We spent many hours together in the Chattooga Gymnastic lobby sharing anecdotes about our special daughters. She was an important part of our "Chattooga Moms Therapy" group as we drew strength from each other. We have missed Cathy and Lucille. Our prayers for your family and especially for Cathy. My favorite memory of Lucy is when she lead six of us cousins to hike five miles to the Len Foote Hike Inn at Amicalola Falls where we stayed overnight. She was always organizing our trips to the mountains to play Rook and catch up on old times. I always admired her sense of adventure. She told me stories of when she bought her first car and drove across the country to California with family. She was the constant worry of her mother when she drove back and forth to Atlanta to work and then moved there with some of her girl friends. She said they loved to go dancing at the Fox and would have to be sure to catch the trolley by 10:00 to make it back to their apartment.

Lucy was kind, generous and caring. I never heard her complain. She was an encouragement to me and I enjoyed our long walks and talks whenever we had an opportunity to get together. I have never seen a mother more devoted to her children than Lucy was to Cathy. I hope that we will all surround Cathy with cards and visits in these upcoming lonely months for her and be an encouragement.

My mother's favorite memory of Lucy was when the two of them got into Uncle Blue's homemade wine. She said they had to cross the foot log over the creek to get back to my Grandma's house and that they giggled all the way!

I will treasure my memories of Lucy and smile each time I recall the fond memories.
