Merl Clabern Reece
April 5, 1935 – January 17, 2022

Merl Reece, age 86, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. Merl was born April 5, 1935 to his parents Laura Mae Reece and Clabern Reece in Marietta, Georgia. Merl was a devoted husband to his wife Regenia for 22 years. He retired from General Motors after working there 30+ years. He also built houses for many years. He loved square dancing, he and his wife were founding members of the Cherokee Squares Dance Club. Merl loved camping, playing cards, and the Atlanta Braves. He loved his dog “Dillon”, which he named after his favorite TV show Gunsmoke. Merl will be loved and missed by all that knew him.
Merl is survived by his wife, Regenia Reece; his sons Steve Reece (Heather) and Shawn Reece; his step sons Bobby Cooksey (Nikki) and Len Cooksey (Misty); his grandchildren Avery Reece, Haley Reece, Olivia Reece, Levi Prewett, and Thomas Prewett, his step grandchildren Jacob Cooksey (Enya), Jared Cooksey, Mollie Freeman (Cory), Hannah Cooksey, Henry Cooksey, James Cooksey and Gracie Cooksey.
Merl is preceded in death by his father Clabern Reece and his mother Laura Mae Smith Reece; his brother Leon Reece; his sisters Wynell Jordan and Annette McArthur.
The visitation for Merl will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. The funeral service will occur at 1:00pm following the visitation. The burial will occur Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Mountain View Cemetery, 410 Whitlock Ave, Marietta, Ga 30064.
