Dean, Son of Walter and Mabel Kates and brother of seven siblings, was born in rural Illinois near Nokomis on a farm. He served six years in the Air Force during the Korean conflict and came home to attend college where he met his wife of 62 years, Constance. He had a very successful career with Electrolux and later as a real estate broker and developer. He is survived by his wife Connie, and his sons Jeffrey and Michael with daughters-in-law LouAnn and Glenda respectively. Also granddaughters Cori, Porsche and Shannon. Also grandsons Joseph and Dustin. His dedication to his family and his profession was his passion that he celebrated throughout life. We love you and we will miss you!
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1pm from the chapel of Winkehofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA with Rev. Robert Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow at Georgia National Cemetery Monday June 13,2016 at 12 pm. The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 12-1pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home.
