Michael "Mike" D. Ferrick was born to his parents Glen and Elaine Ferrick in Chicago, Illinois on January 25, 1956. In Mike's life, he found a great love of cooking and feeding others - a passion which he turned into a career as a chef for 41 years, even attending the Culinary Institute of America to sharpen his skills. He would also go on to teach others about his passion, teaching students for four years how to cook at Le Cordon Bleu, and acted as a member of the American Chef Association for six years. Mike's talent brought him recognition in the form of awards, once winning an award for Best Soup and Sauce for three years in a row.
Beyond his great love of cooking, Mike found pleasure in other hobbies and interests with sports being one of them. Mike liked to spend time playing golf but also loved watching football and baseball - college and pro alike. He personally cheered on the Cubs and the Bears, as well as Ohio State. Reading was another love of his, especially if it had to do with cooking as he collected countless books filled with recipes and tips. Mike cared for his faith, too, staying as a member of Iron Hill Baptist Church for five years.
Mike will always be remembered as a loving, kind, and outgoing individual who loved a good dad joke.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Elaine, and is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Ferrick, his stepson Eric Johnson (Jacque), his brothers Norm (Carlene) and Pat Ferrick (Jenny), several nieces and nephews, and countless adoring friends.
Donations in memory of Mike may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
