

Mrs. Monteen Fincannon, age 71, of Kennesaw, died Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, on Friday, November 18, 2011, at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Chapel in Kennesaw, with Rev. Jim Conrad officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Georgia Memorial Park in Marietta.
Born in Atlanta, Mrs. Fincannon lived in metro Atlanta area all her life, except for a two years in San Diego and 2 years in San Francisco while her husband was in the Navy. Though being a wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother was her primary calling, she also enjoyed working outside the home in a wide variety of jobs. For example, she was real estate agent for 2 years, attaining million-dollar status, drove buses for the Cobb County Public School system, worked as an election official, and started several side businesses such as a sod grass delivery service. She most recently delivered papers for the Marietta Daily Journal for 5 years until illness made working impossible. She was an active member of the Towne View Baptist Church in Kennesaw, participating in mission activities such as cooking for the disaster relief personnel in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She loved to sew, having learned as a child. When her daughters were young, she made most of their clothes, as well as her own. She enjoyed playing games, and played cards every Thursday with a large group of friends. She was an avid reader and symphony goer, and enjoyed gardening, home decorating, and traveling all over the US. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jay Fincannon ; daughters Kim Engle of Asheville, NC, Kelly McGraw of Alpharetta, GA, and Kay Koffroth of Bloomingdale, GA; grandchildren Andrew McGraw, Christopher Koffroth, Kristen Gordon and Matthew Gordon; great grandson Cody Dietrich.

Family will receive friends from 5 till 8 pm Thursday at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw.
