Peter (“Pete”) Charles Zamaria of Acworth, GA peacefully went to be with his Lord on March 22, 2022, surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Pete was born on May 13, 1958, in Stroudsburg, PA. His family returned to Erie, PA, shortly after his birth where he was raised until his family moved to Cary, North Carolina in 1969. Growing up, Pete was always fun-loving, a jokester, mischievous, and always teasing his sister and his cousins whenever there were family gatherings. In 1973, his parents moved to Marietta, Georgia, where he met the love of his life and his soul mate, Deborah Stamper Zamaria. They married in January 1977 and celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on January 22, 2022. Pete was an EMT with Metro Ambulance Service for 12 years, which inspired him to join Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, retiring after 31 years as Manager, Security Intelligence. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
Pete was predeceased by his parents, Pete and Mary Zamaria. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Debbie, his daughter Shonda Webb (Donny), his sister Gail Hollingsworth (Larry), two grandsons, Dillon Carder (Lupe), and Jacob Webb, sister and brothers-in-law, Kathy Whitaker (Kenny), David Stamper (Roxanne) and Danny Stamper (Sharnee), several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Pete also leaves behind his best fur friends, Chelsea and Max, for Debbie to watch over and care for.
The family is honoring Pete's wishes that there will be no memorial service or Celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pete's name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – Pete Zamaria Memorial Fund (https://www.stjude.org/donate) or the American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (https://secure.aspca.org/donate).
