Ramon ‘Ray’ Mendoza, age 83, of Kennesaw, Georgia, passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018. Ray was born on March 16, 1934 in El Paso, Texas, a son of the late Luis Mendoza and Josephine Montoya Mendoza. Following his high school career, Ray enlisted in the United States Air Force and retired after twenty-eight dedicated years of service. He met and married the love of his life, Mary Duren Mendoza and the two spent fifty- five wonderful years together, creating countless memories. After his service in the Air Force, Ray went to work for Lockheed Martin in Marietta for eleven years. In his spare time he enjoyed reading his bible, watching sports, traveling, and participating as a member of the Shriners. Ray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend; he will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Ray is survived by his wife, Mary Mendoza; three children, Tony Mendoza, wife Karen, John Mendoza, wife Lori, and Melissa Hurlbut, husband Greg; one sister, Estella TaFoya; eight grandchildren, Morgan (Lee) Springer, Rachel Mendoza, Amanda Mendoza, Corey Huston, Chelsea Hurlbut, Hayden Hurlbut, Haley Mendoza, and Tristan Mendoza; two great grandchildren, Jake Springer and Eva Springer; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends also survive. A visitation with the family will take place from twelve o’clock in the afternoon until the service hour at two o’clock on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Mendoza will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Alexander officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Memorial Park. The family would also like to invite everyone to a reception following services in the reception area of the funeral home. In lieu of customary remembrances the family request donations be made to the Shriners Hospital.
