

Robert Joseph (Bodie) Corry, 93, of Kennesaw Georgia, passed away on May 4, 2025. Robert Joseph Corry was born November 22, 1931, in Augusta, GA to William J. Corry and Velma McKinley Corry. With his 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Robert was raised in Taliaferro County surrounded by a loving and close extended family. A Funeral Service will be held in Robert's honor on Saturday, May 10, 2025 beginning at 11:00 AM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA. A visitation for family and friends to gather will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2025 between 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Robert will be interred at Pine Ridge memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
He was a graduate of Piedmont College where he met the love of his life Eloise West. Upon college graduation, Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following discharge from military service, Robert embarked on a career that would become his life's work, public education. Robert began his career in the state of Alabama as a high school coach and upon moving back to Georgia, and furthering his education, advancing to administration. The majority of Robert’s career was served in the Cobb County School District where he held several administrative positions beginning with an assistant principalship at what is now Awtrey Middle School and moving into the principal position at Due West Elementary, Blackwell Elementary and to his final position as principal at Big Shanty Elementary, from which he retired in 1989.
Post retirement, Robert and Eloise spent their years working on their farm in Alabama (Robert LOVED being outside), exploring the United States in their motorhome and traveling abroad with their Kennesaw United Methodist Church family. Both Robert and Eloise were devout Christians, attending Kennesaw United Methodist Church. In his later years, Robert took great pride in spending time with his grandchildren and excelling in the roll of devoted “pawpaw”, attending every sporting event, school play, honors recognition and especially lunch in the school cafeteria on Veterans Day!
Robert is preceded in death by his beloved Eloise, brothers William (Bill) Corry and Kenneth Corry, and sisters Julia (Corry) Kendrick and Anna (Corry) Younker. He is survived by his brother Larry (Carleen) Corry DVM, brother-in-law Robert Harold (Myrtle) Kendrick, daughter Ouida (Terrell) Wiggins, grandchildren Alissa (Joe) El-Bisi, Annelyse (Trey) Helms, and Alex Wiggins as well as 3 great granddaughters, Brynn and Ellery El-Bisi and Greer Helms.
