Robert H Filkins Jr., 77, of Kennesaw, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother Douglas. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Irene (Strong) Filkins, his sister, Elizabeth Crosby, children, Robert H Filkins III and his wife Lane, Lori Beadle and her husband Kurt, Becky Gonzales and her husband Gil, & Chris Filkins, 6 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Bob had many passions in his life, most being his family. He loved flying his remote controlled airplanes out of his basement/hangar. He was an avid golfer. Bob originally moved to Georgia in the 60's to work for Lockheed in Marietta. After that, he began a career in the insurance business with the Travelers. From there, he went out on his own and established Filkins Colbert & Associates in 1973. That company continues today with his son. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at 4 - 6 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge in Kennesaw, GA. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Catherines Catholic Church in Kennesaw at 10:30 am Monday, February 1st. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to St. Vincent DePaul.
