

A native of Hamlin, Texas, he was a great husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Powell was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping; while living in Alaska for a few years, he took his children hunting. He also enjoyed cooking and served as Mess Cook for many years while in the U.S. Army. He tinkered with cars and passed on his life's knowledge to his grandchildren.
Mr. Powell was a Mason for many years and is a retired U.S. Army Veteran.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary Powell; sister, Patsy Hicks; and brother, Richard Powell. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Vivian Maelene Powell; daughter, Teresa "Terry" and her husband Dale Meeks of Kennesaw; sons, Steven "Steve" L. Powell of Marietta and Donald "Donnie" E. Powell and his wife Hayat Caidi of Stone Mountain; sister, Pauline "Polly" Vowell of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Chris, Wayne, Noah, Ryan, Sofia, and many numerous other grandchildren; close family friend, Josh Waller; great-grandson, Nathaniel "Nate"; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family from Texas.
Mr. Powell will be cremated under the care of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be announced after final arrangements are made.
