Robert Lee Waldrop, 83, of Acworth passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014. Funeral service is Monday, 2pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge in Kennesaw with Rev. Brad Dewberry officiating. Burial will follow at Pineridge Memorial Park. His wife Sarah preceded Mr. Waldrop in death in March of this year.
Robert was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church in Acworth and had retired from Lockheed as a Machinist. He loved the outdoors, especially those mountain trips, where he and his family would swim, skip rocks, and enjoy a watermelon that had been cooled by the river. Mr. Waldrop also had a passion for car racing and spent many Saturday nights at Dixie Speedway. One thing that people may not have known about Robert was his love of cats that demonstrated his compassion toward all living creatures.
Those who survive are his daughter – Naomi Walker (Ronnie) of Rydal, grandchildren – Adam Tracy Owens, II, Jake Austin Owens, Luke Hunter Owens, Ethan Kelly Owens, Delilah Maryalice Walker, and Nala Alana Velez. He also has two sisters that survive, Christine and Rowena.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 5pm until 8pm at the funeral home and after 9am on Monday.
