Rosie was born in Rydal, Georgia on May 6th 1935, and she went to be with Jesus on Friday November 26th 2010. She came from a very large family. Her parents were Fletcher and Lillie Stokes. She had five brothers, and five sisters.
As a child, life was very hard for Rosie, her parents, brothers and sisters. She did not have the pleasure of doing things that most children did. As she grew up as a child, all her family had to work in the fields, just to meet their needs to survive.
I met Rosie at the Roswell Manufacturing Company, in 1961 after I graduated from high school. We were married on April 29th 1972, and have had a wonderful and happy marriage for Thirty Eight and half years. We have lived in and around the Acworth area ever since.
Rosie had four wonderful children by a previous marriage. Her children are Ernestine, Fred, Gloria, and Lorene. She had nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She loved her children and grandchildren, and they were her life.
All her children and grandchildren are very special to me. I consider them as my own, and I love them just as if they were my own. Rosie was always a caring mother and grandmother for her children and grandchildren. She was always there for her brothers and sisters, when they were in need.
Not only for her family, but she was a caring person for all those around her. Rosie always tried to help others, who were in need, and be a blessing to them, even unto strangers whom she did not even know.
All her life, Rosie was a very hard worker. She worked at Holeproof Hosiery in the 50's, and for the Roswell Manufacturing Company in the 60's. She retired from Coats and Clark at the Acworth plant in the early 90's, after working there for 27 years.
Rosie loved Gospel Singing. Over the last 25 plus years, we sang in many Nurshing Homes. We also sang in several jails and prisons, brought Bibles and gave them to several Inmates which were in prison, trying to make a difference in their lives. She was a devoted member of The Entire Bible Baptist Church for almost 30 years.
Rosie loved holidays, and she loved to decorate for them, especially the Christmas holidays. She had decorations for every holiday there was.
Rosie also had an amazing gift, her vast knowledge of plants, flowers and trees. She always knew when to prune, how to prune, and exactly when to water each plant.
She loved to go on vacations, and she loved to travel. she loved seeing the different parts of the country. She also loved to stop at yard sales, and most of the time she would buy something, even if she didn't need it.
Rosie and I always went everywhere together. If one of us went to the doctor, grocery store, or anywhere, the other one went also.We would not go anywhere without each other.
It has been an Honor and a Privilege to have Rosie as my wife for the past thirty eight plus years. She was the most wonderful wife and caring person that anyone could ever know. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Until you lose your spouse, you cannot comprehend the pain and sorrow one feels. I have missed her tremendously since she passed away, and I always will. I WILL LOVE HER FOREVER, M.J.
