Ryan Scott Aplin, affectionately known by many as "Rerun" or "Uncle Rerun" to his beloved nieces and nephews, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, in Rome, Georgia, at the age of 42. Born on December 13, 1983, to Jimmy and Kathy Aplin, Ryan brought an abundance of joy, laughter, and light into the world from the very beginning.
Ryan grew up in Paulding County, Georgia, where his infectious energy and athletic spirit shone brightly. A proud graduate of East Paulding High School, Ryan was a dedicated athlete who lived for the game, playing football from the second grade all the way through his senior year. His love for sports also extended to baseball, soccer, and basketball. Later in life, he channeled this passion into his community, finding immense fulfillment in coaching youth football and cheering on his favorite team, the Florida State Seminoles.
As an electrician by trade, Ryan was known for his hard work, dedication, and precision. Beyond his professional life, he was a man who deeply loved the outdoors. Whether he was deer hunting, bird hunting, or spending a quiet day fishing, Ryan found peace in nature.
Above all, Ryan’s life was anchored by his deep, personal relationship with God. His faith was the cornerstone of who he was, and he was an active and cherished member of Cornerstone Church in Rome, Georgia. He lived his faith through his actions, bringing warmth to church events and family gatherings alike. Ryan loved his family fiercely, and his nieces and nephews held a uniquely special place in his heart.
Ryan is survived by his wife, Courtney Aplin; his devoted parents, Jimmy and Kathy Aplin; his loving siblings, David Evans (Angela), Dwayne Aplin (Amanda), and Haley Bray (Lawrence); and his children, Cameron Stillman, Raegan Aplin, Landon Trotter, and Lenaah Robinson. He also leaves behind his adored nieces and nephews, Hannah Evans, Barrett Schroder, Aspen Bray, Ryker Aplin, and Maisie Aplin, as well as a large circle of extended family and dear friends who will miss his bright smile and uplifting spirit.
Ryan was reunited in heaven by his grandparents, Fred & Shirley Thoming, and Earl & Maris Aplin; his uncles, Zack Thoming and Lawrence Newberry; his niece, Harper Aplin; and his cousins, Donovan Newberry, Madison Walker, and Julie Johnston.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Ryan's honor on October 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, Georgia, with Rev. Richard Nix and Pastor Kyle Nix officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 AM, to share memories and celebrate a life beautifully lived.
