

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 6, 1931. The daughter of a dentist and homemaker, Sue had a passion for learning and education.
Sue received her undergraduate degree from Greensboro College and Masters Degree in Religious Education from Emory University, where she met her husband of 58 years, Reverend James Griffin.
Sue retired from DeKalb County Schools after 33 years of teaching and administration service. At Southwest DeKalb High School, students enrolled in her classes not so much for the coursework, but to experience the popular and beloved “Mrs. G” in action. She was recognized as “Teacher of the Year” multiple times in the schools where she taught.
Sue had a servant’s heart, dedicating her life to many educational and civic organizations. She was active in ADK, an organization that works to enrich the quality of education. She served on the Board of Blind and Low Vision, was a volunteer at the Atlanta History Center and was active in every church where her husband served as pastor.
As a pastor’s wife, Sue did everything from singing in the choir to working with children and youth. In 2001, she was recognized as “Laity of the Year” by the Methodist Conference of North Georgia. Throughout her life, Sue served on many of the boards and committees of the local church.
Sue honored her Lord’s greatest commandment by loving Him and by loving people. She blessed the lives of all she touched with her kindness, her passion for life and her selfless investment in the lives of others. After a life well lived, Sue is his hearing the loving words of her Lord, “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.
Mrs. Sue Griffin is survived by her husband, Reverend James Griffin, her daughter Susan Wing, (Andy), and her son Jim Griffin (Kim).
She loved her grandchildren, Rachel Harmeyer (Keith), Ben Bishop, Alina Wing, Katy & Peyton Griffin and her great-grandchildren Audrey and Amy Curtis.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 2:00pm at Kennesaw United Methodist Church with Reverends Wallace Wheeles, Bob Bridges and Mike Cavin presiding. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 7:00-8:30pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, GA 30152.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kennesaw United Methodist Church Building Fund or to one of the groups she served: Blind and Low Vision or Atlanta History Center.
