

Theodore R. Palmer (otherwise know as "Ted" to friends and family) was born on February 27, 1934 in Smithfield, Virginia. He was born to the late Elsie Palmer, but was raised by his beloved aunt, Ethel Ferguson, and her husband Charles (both deceased).
Ted grew up in the city of Newport News and graduated from Huntington High School in 1952. He went on to pursue a college education and attended Virginia State University. He later enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for 6 years (2 years Active Duty and 4 years Army Reserve).
After completing a tour of duty in Germany, he retired from the military and became a Real Estate Agent. He also worked part-time in the Chemistry Lab at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Later, Ted became employed at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in New York, NY as a Lab Technologist in the Special Chemistry Lab. He retired from there in December 1997.
Upon leaving New York, Ted returned to Newport News where he spent the first 8 years of his retirement. Then in 2005, he and his wife, Norma, relocated to Kennesaw, Georgia where he resided until his demise.
Ted was a man of integrity who always led by example. He was also a man of great faith who was fiercely devoted to his family. As a loving and nurturing father, he willingly put the needs of his children before his own. He was also a devoted and loyal husband.
Ted is survived by his wife of 39 years, Norma P. Palmer; his three children: Linda M. Silver, Karen D. Dunn, and Kevin A. Palmer; five grandchildren: Travis A. Silver, Anaja M. Silver, Laila I. Dunn, Zaria A. Dunn, and Bria M. Dunn; two sons-in-law: Rashaan D. Dunn and Tony Silver; one daughter-in-law: Karida Palmer; and several extended family members and friends.
