In loving memory of Thomas Howard Shaw, 78, devoted husband of 55 years to Mary Lancelotta Shaw, father to Regina Shaw Pente (Mechelle Hudgins), Nicholas (Sunny) Shaw, and Brian Shaw. Loving Pop to grandchildren Ashley, Vincent, Emily, Catherine, and Madeline. Tom is also survived by nieces Kristen, Merideth, and Theresa, nephew Joseph, and the late Phillip and Michael who all lovingly know him as Uncle Tom or 'Tommy". Also survived by brother-in-law Salvatore Milio and late sister-in-law Regina Milio; his late brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Barbara Lancelotta; dear cousins Margie and Allan Schwartz.
Tom was born and raised by his grandparents (Agnes and Howard Martin) in Baltimore, Maryland and attended St. Dominic School, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, and Loyola College. Tom grew up close to his cousin Charles "Chuck" Martin and the two enjoyed a treasured friendship for the rest of his life, along with Chuck's wife, Gwen, and their family. While serving as a groomsman in the wedding of mutual friends in the Fall of 1965, Tom met Mary and the two began their relationship - marrying May 4, 1968.
Tom began a career with Georgia Pacific in the Fall of 1976 and soon after he and Mary celebrated the birth of Regina in early 1977. His career with Georgia Pacific soon took him and his family to Atlanta, where they later welcomed Nicholas (1979) and Brian (1982).
1986 saw Tom and his family move back to Baltimore to aid the family in caring for Mary's father. In 1996, Tom rejoined Georgia Pacific and the family once again moved to the Atlanta area, settling in Kennesaw. Tom continued to work for Georgia Pacific before retiring in 2004.
Leading up to and into his retirement, Tom continued to devote himself to family life - welcoming his two beautiful daughters-in-law and 5 wonderful grandchildren, all of whom lit up his life and brought joy to his heart.
Also during retirement, Tom began pouring effort into his fondness for gardening, artistic passions, taking classes in pencil drawing and watercolor painting, surprising family with beautiful gifts of art, and showering his kitties, grandpups, and grandkitties with bounties courtesy of Chewy.com.
Tom's later years saw him struggle with some significant health complications that challenged his mobility, but never his love, sharp wit, sense of humor or stealth-like ability to find a way to sneak in one more piece of candy...
Tom's final week, though physically difficult, afforded friends and family one more beautiful display of the love and commitment Tom and Mary shared during their 58 years together.
