For thirty-eight beautiful years, he was married to the love of his life and best friend, Gloria Jean Brown. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Walter had a deep and personal relationship with God and practiced the Baptist faith with conviction and joy.
He found delight in the simple, meaningful things—gospel and bluegrass music, tending to his yard and planting flowers, playing with his grandkids, and gathering with family. Walter's humor, kindness, and selfless nature left a mark on all who knew him. He had a way of making everyone feel welcome, seen, and loved.
Walter is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean Brown; children, Lamar Brown, Jr., Kayla Brown, Barry Brown & wife Patti, Lora Wilson, and Carla Brown; grandchildren, Nick Watson, Ashley Watson, Ethan Watson, Madison Rucker, Thomas Rucker Harleigh Brown, Brianna Heisler , Abbygayl Heisler, Benny Damon, and Lyssa Brown; siblings, Robert Brown, Mickey Brown, Jerry Brown, Leroy Brown, and Betty Simmons. His final words to his family were, “Just be ready to live your life for the Lord,” a message he not only spoke but lived out every day.
In honor of Walter, we invite all who loved him to reflect on his favorite Bible verse, John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Though he has departed this world, Walter's legacy of faith, family, and love will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew him. He is deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure.
