William "Bear" Bryan, aged 80, passed away on May 10, 2025, in Acworth, GA. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication.
William was married to his beloved wife, Madeline Bryan, for 57 wonderful years. He was a devoted father to his two children, Jill Bryan and Justin Bryan. He also leaves behind his sister, Bettie Fousel; niece, Susan Wohlenhaus; nephews, Jeffrey Fousel (Carol) and Matt Grabowski (Erin West); sisters-in-law, Maureen and Marcia Grabowski (Rick Kercz); and brother-in-law, Michael Grabowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nancie Bryan, and his younger brother, James Bryan.
William was extremely active in his faith, attending St. Clare parish and participating in many ministries, especially the St. Vincent de Paul society and the Knights of Columbus. Prior to moving to Acworth, Bear was a parishioner at St. Gabriel parish in Chesterfield, VA. There he enjoyed working with CARITAS, a program to help those dealing with homelessness and addiction, and the Knights of Columbus. He was known for his kindness and caring nature, always ready to help someone in need.
He worked in the automotive industry for most of his life, spending nearly 30 years with General Motors. William had a passion for sports, particularly Michigan football, and was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Atlanta Braves.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul society at St. Clare of Assisi society in Acworth, GA, or the CARITAS program in Richmond, VA.
William "Bear" Bryan will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
