

William ‘Bill’ W. Johns Jr., of Kennesaw, GA., passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Bill was born on December 27, 1947 in Hollywood, Florida, a son to the late William W. Johns Sr. and Zelene Baxter Johns.
Bill was a resident of Florida for most of his life before relocating to Lexington, KY; Mahwah, NJ then to the Atlanta area. He also served in the National Guard. On September 11, 1983 he married the love of his life Marilyn, and the two travelled the world together and built a beautiful home on acreage in Powder Springs, GA. After almost thirty-five years of dedicated service, Bill retired as a Technical Manager from IBM. In his spare time he enjoyed watching University of Kentucky basketball games, Florida State University football and NASCAR races. He loved nature, wildlife, the outdoors, camping and fishing. He was an avid gardener - any plant would thrive for him. His favorite hobbies were working on cars, building computers and playing computer games. Bill was an individual with great resilience and determination, though he faced several health difficulties during his adult life, he never allowed the obstacles to define him. He was intelligent, courageous and strong - a wonderful man, exceptionally generous, patient and kind. He will certainly be missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marilyn Niesen Johns; a son, Robert Johns and wife Amy of Marietta, GA; a sister, Melba Campbell and her husband, Larry of Tennessee; two grandchildren, Maya Johns and Madison Johns; his best friend, Ralph and his devoted and beloved dog, Max, who brought so much joy and laughter to his life. Several extended family members and many friends also survive.
An outdoor memorial gathering to celebrate and honor the life of Bill Johns will be held from eleven o’clock in the morning until one on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the 1890 Farmhouse of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home; with a time of reflection and sharing of memories at twelve thirty.
