William Camilus Perdue, better known as Cam, was born at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Athens, Georgia on May 30, 1980. Cam spent his first five years in Athens before moving to Valdosta, Georgia for two years. The family then moved to Kennesaw, Georgia where he and his three siblings grew up. He attended Baker Elementary, Awtrey Middle School and North Cobb High School. Cam made lifelong friends from all his years of school and kept in contact with many of them up to his passing.
Cam attended Gainesville College in Athens for two years before transferring to Southern Polytech in Marietta where he graduated with a degree in Construction Management. After graduation, he began his career with Beck Construction in Atlanta and was very proud of his participation in the remodeling of Lenox Mall, especially the Nike storefront with all the intricate glasswork. After relocating to Durham, North Carolina, he was a project manager on the reconstruction of Duke University’s athletic facilities and basketball stadium, which he loved showing off to anyone who visited.
Cam is survived by his two children, Hadley and Hudson Perdue of Canton, Georgia who were the loves of his life and his most prized accomplishment. Nothing made him smile more than being called “Dada”. He loved assistant coaching for both Hadley and Hudson’s athletic teams and spent lots of time at practice and games.
He is also survived by his mother and stepdad, Anita and Craig Burch, of Alpharetta, Georgia; his father, William (Bill) Perdue of Dahlonega, Georgia; his brother, Kevin Perdue of Alpharetta, Georgia; sisters, Emily Cabrera of Athens, Georgia, and Lauren Perdue of Cumming Georgia; step-sister, Pace Lively of Roswell, Georgia; as well as a niece; four nephews; his loving aunts, uncles and dear cousins throughout the United States.
He will be missed for his fun-loving spirit, sense of humor, love and creation of music, and for the many heartfelt relationships he maintained throughout his life. Cam loved the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. He always enjoyed the family rivalry between the Dawgs and the Yellow Jackets after Thanksgiving and giving his Alabama friends a hard time these past two years. To say that Cam left an impression on everyone he met would be an understatement and he will be missed beyond measure.
Finally, Cam volunteered time as a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. He was proud to invest time and love into the life of his Little Brother, and we can think of no greater way to show your support of Cam than to consider making a donation to this organization. Donations can be made at bbbsatl.org.
