Willie Williams, Jr., age 82, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, with his devoted wife by his side. Born on October 10, 1943, in Tarboro, North Carolina, Willie was the beloved son of the late Willie G. Williams, Sr. and Ola M. Williams.
Willie’s life was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and service. At a young age, he met the love of his life and best friend, Mary E. Johnson Williams. Their high school romance blossomed into a remarkable 59-year marriage filled with unwavering devotion, laughter, and shared adventures.
A proud patriot, Willie served honorably in the United States Army for four years. Following his military service, he pursued higher education and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Federal City College (which later became part of the University of the District of Columbia) in Washington, DC. He went on to dedicate 34 years of faithful service as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service before retiring.
Willie was a man of many talents and passions. Beyond his postal career, he worked as a real estate agent, tax preparer, substitute teacher and softball umpire. He believed in staying active, engaged, and always finding ways to serve others.
Faith was the cornerstone of Willie’s life. He shared a deep and personal relationship with God and worshipped faithfully alongside Mary at St. Paul Baptist Church for over 40 years. There, he served as a trustee and was a proud member of the men’s choir.
Willie was also a dedicated member of the Masons and enjoyed over 30 years as a member of the neighborhood TTOP Block Club. He embraced life with joy and enthusiasm—whether fishing, bowling, traveling, attending and hosting family reunions or sharing laughter as a natural comedian. Willie also enjoyed opening his home to visiting friends and/or family and taking them sightseeing in the Nation’s Capital. He loved music, dabbled in playing the guitar, and was known for his delicious homemade apple pie.
Traveling the world with Mary brought him immense happiness. Together, they created cherished memories visiting Spain, Europe, Hawaii, Dubai, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, and enjoying several cruises.
Willie will be remembered as a hardworking, loving, and kind-hearted man who never judged others and always looked for the best in everyone. He was gentle, outgoing, and truly the patriarch of his family—a social butterfly who brought warmth and light wherever he went.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mary Williams; his son, Joseph A. Williams (Darshan); his sisters, Shirley M. Williams and Carrie M. Williams of Maryland; his sister-in-law Rosa Pitt, his grandchild, Zaire M. Williams; his niece, Terry N. Williams; his nephews Alexander (Bunny) Pitt and Geoffrey Rawlins, his great-nephew, Brandon C. Williams-Price; his great-great-niece, Royalty R. Williams-Price; his goddaughter, Jocelyn Ross and a host of family and friends.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Willie G. Williams, Sr. and Ola M. Williams.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, Georgia. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a repast in the reception cottage at the funeral home.
