Zair Ali went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 4, 2012. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 3, 1934 in Trinidad, West Indies. The fourth-born of Mr. and Mrs. Twalib Ali, he grew up in a quaint village called El Socorro.
As a young man, Zair worked at the Trinidad Hilton as a driver and developed a love for meeting people and discovering places. He quickly became friends with the many tourists who visited the island. Many times he would bring total strangers home from around the world to taste Rosie’s cooking. Weekends on the island were filled with nephews and nieces packed in his Chevy, heading out to the beaches and rivers. He loved children. Making them laugh with his many tricks was a treat.
In 1975 he and his wife Rosie moved to the United States with his son Frankey and daughter Pamela, to create a new life for his family. Zair was a family man and loved to drive; so his best recreation was taking his family out on long drives. No place was too far.
Everyone who met Zair was so comfortable with his engaging personality that they soon became his new best friend. Zair’s passion and personality will be remembered by all who knew him.
Zair worked as a security guard at Emory Health Care for many years. He was a faithful member of The Assembly of God Tabernacle for 12 years, where he served as an usher.
He is survived by: his loving and devoted wife, Rosie Ali of Marietta, GA; son, Frankey Doobal of New York; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela & Clyde Daniell of Kennesaw, GA; brothers – Hasmat (Shireen) Ali of London; Shair (Zaitwon) Ali of New York; Azim (Khartoon) Ali of Trinidad; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” (Psalm 84:10) KJV
