Agnes Mary Bird, nee Blackhawk.
Giizis-ikwe of the Waussee clan.
Originally of Northwest Angle #33,
married into Naotkamegwanning FN.
December 05, 1949-April 20, 2012.
Daughter, sister, cousin, auntie, friend, mother and her most precious role as kokum; with her family by her side, Agnes peacefully left for the spirit world on April 20, 2012 at the age of 62.
She leaves to be remembered by her siblings; Josie, Suzy, Christine, Gerald and Don and numerous nieces, nephews and many extended family members.
Her children will remember her and miss her greatly; Colin James, Christopher Joseph, Cardinal Jefferson, Carmen Jocelyn (Rob), Nadine and Natalie. Special friends; Barb, Joyce, Bobbie and many others too numerous to mention. Her devoted grandchildren gave her the greatest memories and pride; Caitlyn Janine Agnes, Destin Free, Summer Breeze, Barron Brave, Justice James, Autumn Dawn, Talon Fire, Kiara L J Betty, Tai Christian, Harmony, Melody and Logan; they will miss her greatly, but continue to laugh, love share and care in her honor.
She left to join her beloved husband, Richard Bird who trusted her to give everything she had to her family for the rest of her life. 8 years had passed since he left and mom lovingly remembered his teachings, gifts, and continued to live his legacy as promised.
In the spirit world, she will also be joining her beloved son Lil Richard, parents; Christopher and Myrna Blackhawk; her siblings Chris, Clarence and Mary Louise. Special aunts and uncles; Louise, Eva, Maggie, Norman, Edward and many others...once again, it’s now their time to enjoy her as we have.
Mom and dad’s legacy has been passed on to her grandchildren who have stepped up to realize what really matters most - that family is the epitome of our very existence – that we, as a family, have only each other and with that we have to hold our culture and traditions in high regard.
When her journey to the spirit world began, her grandchildren honored her by showing the utmost respect and dedication by virtue of her teachings. Kokum considered them her pride and joy, they were always front and centre. We will ensure this will be carried on within our family.
The family would like to say Miigwech to many; LOWDH, HSBC staff and doctors for the care Agnes received. The many friends, family members and community members who offered their support and condolences; your outpouring love and support will never be forgotten.
Wake to be held on Monday, April 23rd, 2012 and Traditional Burial Ceremony on Tuesday, April 24th, 2012 at the Bird residence.
Miigwech from the Bird Family.
