Mom enjoyed her life in Kenora and time at the family cottage at Clearwater Bay. She loved sports and competition.
During Mom’s high school years, her favorite sport was basketball. Her interests grew to include competitive Curling, Golf and Bridge, all of which she was active in, well into her late 80’s.
Her sister Helen opened a fabric and sewing supplies store Fashion Fabrics with Mom’s assistance. This interested Mom into pursuing a career in teaching sewing, which led her to teaching at Lakewood and then at Confederation College. She took on other crafts including Pattern Drafting, petit point and paper tole, creating masterful art displayed proudly in her home.
In her spare time Mom was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League (35 years), active long time volunteer for the LOTW District Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Associate Member of Royal Canadian Legion, Active member of New Horizons Senior Centre and Kenora Golf & Country Club Women’s Business and Ladies League.
Mom had a passion for cooking and entertaining. She loved hosting all family gatherings, dinners for friends, and her bridge clubs. Her specialty was baking, dainties and desserts.
All who new Mom, considered her a “True Lady”. As Her children, we knew we were blessed to have been so fortunate to have had such a wonderful, loving Mother.
Our sincere thanks to all staff at the Lake of the woods District Hospital and to the support staff at Benedickson Court and Riley at the Alzheimer’s Society for looking after Mom with your overwhelming Love and support! Bless you all.
