Charles (Charlie) Daniel Canfield

Charlie was born September 01, 1925 in Keewatin, Ontario and passed away peacefully in the evening of Monday, January 30th, 2012 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ontario.

Charlie was predeceased by his first wife Rose Marguerite Canfield and brother Norman (Dorothy) Canfield.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Teresa, children Helena (Rob), Daniel (Fran), Robert, David (Liz), Pamela (Marc), and extended family Patricia (Don), Nick and Cathy. He is survived by his brothers Arnold (Doris), David (Helen) and Willard (Shirley) Canfield. He will also be sadly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Charlie was a man of many passions, great dedication, adventure and family. He was always a hard working man that overcame adversity and took on challenges with a fierce strength. He spent many years serving the children of our community with disabilities with great patience and love. He was an avid outdoorsman and drew many people into his outdoor adventures like fishing, hunting, flying, camping, quadding and hiking. He loved to have his family around him and enjoying the outdoors with him whenever possible.

He had an amazing strength of character and a sensitive gentle spirit; all who knew him admired these qualities greatly.

Memorial Service for Charlie will be held on Saturday, February 04, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Knox United Church in Kenora, Ontario with a reception to follow in the lower hall of the church.

The honourary pallbearers for Charlie will be his grandsons, Ryan Glasrud, John Canfield, Charlie Canfield, Christian Canfield, Michael Kozlowski and Mitchell Kozlowski.

The family would like to extend gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful support and care from the staff at Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
