Cheryl Assin
With family by her side Cheryl Assin (aka. LaPomme), a resident of Grassy Narrows First Nation, passed away on February 29, 2012 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 37 years.
She is survived by her only child Elsie Assin, and mother Mary Audrey Assin. As well as siblings: Victoria Assin (common-law: Randy Fobister), and Nathan Assin (common-law: Joyce M).
Also nieces/nephews: Judith Fobister, Micheal Assin, Jason Assin, Wendall Fobister, Marc Fobister, Natasha Assin, Malik Assin, and baby Audrey M. Including aunts/uncles: Beverly Assin, Laura Land, Patrick Land, Ronnie Loon, Virginia Loon, and Ginny Loon. Lastly great-uncles: Louie Assin, Roy Assin, Bernard Assin; and many more first and second cousins too many to name.
She was predeceased by: Gordon Loon (father), Melodie Assin (sister), Evelyn Land (grandmother), Mary Ann Keewatin (great-grandmother), Bernice Land (aunt), Brian Land (uncle), Delores Land (aunt), Crystal Loon (first cousin), and Erin Loon (first cousin).
Cheryl was born in Kenora and was raised in Grassy Narrows First Nation. She enjoyed living in Grassy Narrows, being outdoors, visiting family and friends, and just being with people in general.
She loved to laugh, and make others laugh as well. She was a kind and compassionate person, always thinking of others before herself. She thrilled in finding more pieces to her angel ornaments collection.
A Celebration of Cheryl’s Life was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012 at Agnes’ Building/Church in Grassy Narrows, Ontario.
