December 25, 1979 – May 27, 2020
Crystal Daisy Meekis passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, on May 27th, 2020 after a lengthy illness and has gone to a place where there is no more pain and suffering and to join her beloved mother in the heavens.
Crystal was born on the Deer Lake First Nation on December 25th, 1979 to Stanley and Hazel Meekis.
Crystal was predeceased by her mother/Hazel Meekis, baby brother/Michael Meekis, grandmother/Peggy Kakepetum, grandfather/Jonah Kakepetum, uncle/Gary Kakepetum, uncle/Leon Kakepetum, uncle/Bob Jameson, cousin/Rain Suggashie.
Crystal has many first cousins, too many to mention, they all loved her and will miss her terribly. Her cousin Roselene Jameson and niece Briana Cameron will have special places in their hearts for Crystal and will forever love her and remember her.
Crystal has many family members in Deer Lake, Sandy Lake and Keewaywin, Ontario and are unable to attend her funeral because of the travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus and have sent their condolences.
Crystal was in the Kenora area for the past 15 years and had met and made many friends including her partner, Shawn and his family. Her Kenora family will miss her.
Special thanks to the extended families, Jameson, Brittain, who have helped us get some family members together during a time when the world is in crisis. Thank-you to Roberta Jameson, Doreen Jameson and Terrace Brittain for their help. Thanking everyone who are praying for us.
Crystal, we will miss your bright smile, which was genuine, every time you came across someone you knew but we are comforted that you are in a happy place now.
Wake Services to be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, June 1, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Lake of the Woods Cemetery at 11 a.m. with Pastor Frank officiating.
